Happy New Year 2008!!

Happy New Year! January 2008

We’ve had some ups and downs this year, but we’re still here!

First…for those who hadn’t heard, Clarence’s father, Clarence Tholstrup Sr., passed away in March at the age of 87. We are all very sad to see him go. He was a wonderful man and we will all miss “Grand Daddy” very much. Please keep Clarence’s mom and the family in your prayers this year.

Clarence is still doing well in his job with the government, as they move forward in their efforts in the “War on Terror.” (Sounds like bath and bedtime at our house.) And he’s still playing with his band, “Other Side.” They have a good time and it gets him out of the house for a few hours and away from our never-ending house projects.

Meaghan is rolling right along in 3rd Grade, still making all “A’s & B’s.” She turned 9 in October and now wants to be a singer when she grows up. (I’m afraid my little “obsession” with American Idol may have influenced her just a little.)

Also, she’s taking “Hip Hop” dance class this year and now her favorite music is not just “High School Musical” and “Hannah Montana”, but also “T-Pain and Kanye West”. (I’m just waiting for her to start wearing a do-rag on her head and saying “Yo, Mom.…Peace Out!)

Carson turned 5 in September and is in a Kindergarten program now at his preschool (he officially goes in Kindergarten at public school next year) and he’s hanging in there. We’re having some “impulsive behavior” issues, but all in all, he’s doing well academically and growing like a weed.

He did play Soccer this year for the first time, and boy, was that a hoot! Many times it was all I could do not to laugh out loud. Sometimes, he would really go after the ball with his teammates, and then other times, he would just go pick up the ball and leave the field. (We’ve still learning to work and play well with others.)

He’s still loves Scooby Doo (we could open up our own Scooby Doo store), but is also into Ben 10, Transformers and Computer Games. And he also likes “the ladies.” :)

Recently, he tried to “hit on” a whole table of preteen girls at our neighborhood Mexican restaurant. He said they were his “girlfriends” and he needed to go talk to them. Then the other night after bath, when he was all clean and his hair was all slicked back, he looked at himself in the mirror and said, in his most suave and debonair voice,…”Hello, Girls!”

(All he needed was a leisure suit and some after-shave and he’d be set. )

I’m still doing the advertising thing and have some great new clients. Also, I’m still dancing. This year, not only am I taking dance classes, but I started teaching dance both at my gym, Riviera Fitness Center, and at The Dance Company here in Madison. In fact, Meaghan is in one of my classes. I absolutely love it and hope my body will hold out for me long enough to teach for at least a few more years.

And one more thing…

As you can see in our photo, we did get another dog this year, and I have to say, she really is the best dog ever. (No offense to all of you other dog owners.) Her name is Molly and we adopted her this summer. She’s a mix of a few breeds, but she looks just like a small Australian Shepherd. She’s sweet and kind of shy, and very protective. And she runs so fast that I’m thinking of getting her trained to do those agility obstacle races.
(Maybe she and Carson could train together. He’d be great at those, don’t you think?)

Well, that’s about it…Take Care & Keep in Touch!
Blessings to you and your family in the New Year!

Love, Clarence, Melody, Meaghan and Carson…and Molly!
